Ta Oi
Ta oi is the indigenous ethnic in the Central of Indochina. They live in Laos and Vietnam. In Vietnam, there are 3 local groups of Ta Oi people: Paco, Taoi and Bahi with around 44,000 people (2009), living in mountainous areas of Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue Province. Their language is categorized to Katuic group of Mon-Khmer language group.
Upland cultivation is the main living of households. Taoi people follows patrilineality. As their traditional culture, getting married with family members or relative is popular and encouraged.
Villagers believe that there are many “gods” in the nature. There are “God of earth”, “God of property”, etc. “God of rice” play a very important role in their life, therefore, there are 2 main important ceremonies are organized for praying for good crop and thank to the God.
